He can not own me
I was not made to be
bought or sold
He can not control me
I\’m not a puppet on his strings
He can not direct me
my path is not the one he chose
He can no longer hurt me
my strength surpasses his
You can love me
and I will love you in return
You can gently guide me
and I will follow
You can comfort me when I am needy
and I will be gracious
I have the flame of hope in my heart
and I offer you my gifts
if I may ask of you
a hand to hold on to
a shoulder to cry on
loving arms around me
an ear that will listen
and I will give you
all that I have and
all that I am
and a love so deep
you will never want
for anything again
Here is a story, reported to be true, about a nine-year-old boy who lived in a rural town in Tennessee.
His house was in a poor area of the community. A church there had a bus Ministry that came knocking on his door one Saturday afternoon.
The child came to answer the door and greeted the bus Pastor. The bus Pastor asked if his parents were home and the small boy told him that his parents take off every weekend and leave him at home to take care of his little brother.
The bus Pastor could not believe what the child said and asked him to repeat it.
The youngster gave the same answer and the bus Pastor asked to come in and talk with him. They went into the living room and sat down on an old couch with the foam and springs exposed...
A middle aged woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. While on the operating table she had a near death experience. Seeing God, she asked \”Is my time up?\”
God said, \”No, you have another 43 years, 2 months and 8 days to live.\”
Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have a facelift, liposuction and a tummy tuck. She even had someone come in and change her hair color. Since she had so much more time to live, she figured she might as well make the most of it.
After her last operation, she was released from the hospital. While crossing the street on her way home, she was killed by an ambulance.
Arriving in front of God, she demanded, \”I though you said I had another 40 years?\”
God replied, \”I didn\’t recognize you.\”
A man found a cocoon for a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared, he sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through the little hole.
Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and could go no farther. Then the man decided to help the butterfly.
He took a pair of scissors and snipped the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily.
Something was strange. The butterfly had a swollen body and shriveled wings. The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time.
